On Sunday January 10th, the trip of a lifetime began. We decided (at the request of a favorite family member) to chronicle our trip on a blog so here goes. . .
We (Nana, Mom, & Joseph) departed New Hope yesterday at 2:30pm EST and we are now here in Firenze, Italia settled into our apartment 18 hours later. AMAZING!!!
We had a wonderful flight and Joseph did a great job in the air for the first time. We landed in Milano around 7:45am and after a bit of confusion with our stroller (it was temporarily lost!!), we grabbed our bags and boarded the Malpensa Express into Milano Centrale train station. We got off of the train and I treated Nana to her first Italian cafe/bar experience. We had a cappucino and shared a chocolate pastry and walked around the train station a bit. We boarded the 11:15am train to Firenze and were on our way.
We arrived in Firenze around 1:00pm and took a taxi across the Arno River to our apartment on Via Maffia where we met our lovely AirBNB host, Michele! :) Michele did a great job of orienting us to the apartment and the neighborhood of Santo Spirito. We picked up a few groceries and some pizza by the piece and have been relaxing in our apartment and getting settled.
We are about to head out to navigate the winding streets of Firenze with the stroller and to start to acclimate to our schedule for the week. We are hoping to rendevous with Uncle Jacob so we can get set for PittiUomo tomorrow.
Bye for now - Amanda "Mom"
