After settling in at our AirBNB in the Santo Spirito neighborhood of Firenze, we took off for a few hours of exploring in the historic center of town. It has been 7 years since I was last here and my mom has never been. It took me a while to get my bearings - Duomo, Piazza Signoria, Piazza della Repubblica, etc - but we had a wonderful time exploring. Seeing my mom's face when we rounded the corner and saw the Duomo was priceless - she was entranced by the beauty of it and all of the gorgeous colors.
We tried to rendevous with Jacob for dinner but my phone still hasn't made the international transition so we had to get something to eat on our own this evening. Joseph was such a good boy - sleeping and looking around - but it was a long day for him.
We had a nice, simple meal at a tratorria across the street from the Ferragamo museum and store. Mom had papardelle alla cinghiale and I had pici with fresh ricotta, pesto, and tomatoes. Delicious!
It is now 8:48pm and we are all snuggled into our beds. Who knows how long my baby boy will sleep tonight but it is ok. I am just happy that we are here and that we have this time together. And if he wakes up before 1am Italy time, I can also talk to my BIG boys. An added bonus for this mama who in all of her excitement misses her other "parts".
Tomorrow I begin my work for American Trench at the PittiUomo show at the Fortezza da Basso. I am excited but also a bit nervous about how all of the logistics will work. Time to let it go and give it to God (& frankly, Nana). :)
Ciao Bella
